The knowledge of educational advisers about the educational rules and their performance status in Shahrekord university of medical sciences

Introduction and Aim: Studentschr('39') academic counseling has been emphasized as one of the duties of faculty members in their employment regulations. Since in most studies, students did not have a positive opinion about the performance of advisors, the reason of dissatisfaction may be the inadequate information of the advisers from the educational curriculum. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the level of awareness of the advisers on educational curriculum and their performance at Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences in 2017-2018. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 120 academic advisers were selected by census method. Knowledge was determined by a self-made questionnaire consisting of 18 parts and developed according to educational curriculum and determining the performance using a questionnaire prepared by the Deputy of Education of University. Data analized by SPSS. Results: In 13 sections of 18 sections on educational curriculum, the level of knowledge of advisers was relatively favorable and in 5 sections was quite desirable. Regarding the performance of advisers, college officials reported a favorable status in most cases and in only one case, "holding at least 3 group sessions for students" the performance status was unfavorable. Conclusion: The level of awareness of advisers of educational curriculum in most cases was relatively favorable and college officials reported the performance of advisers in most cases quite desirable. For more information of advisers, their evaluation in terms of awareness of educational curriculum at the end of each academic year and the inclusion of grade in general evaluation of them is recommended.
